LOCATION AND ACREAGE
The 160± acre House Creek Ranch is located approximately 11 miles south of
the town of Jefferson, Colorado on paved Park County Road 77 in the scenic
Tarryall Valley. Downtown Denver is a one and a half hour drive and Denver
International Airport is two hours away.
PROPERTY
The ranch is ideally set up for horses. There are six separate pastures,
three corrals, five loafing sheds, a paddock for horses and a barn with hay
loft. There are also assorted sheds and buildings for equipment and
storage. Stout fences and cross fences are six feet high. The three
bedroom, 1,102± sq. ft. farm house dates from 1950 and has been completely
updated for modern living. The home has a full unfinished basement. There
also is an historic log homestead cabin, structurally sound and ready for
restoration. Various other historic log structures lend an old west feel to
the ranch. Both House Creek and Tarryall Creek traverse the ranch providing
stock water and lush sub-irrigated pastures as well as excellent fishing for
rainbow and brown trout. Pike National Forest adjoins the property.
RECREATION
Unlimited miles of trails through Pike National Forest and Lost Creek
Wilderness are right out the back gate. Access to the famous Colorado Trail
is approximately a six mile ride through the wilderness. One half mile of
Tarryall Creek provides excellent habitat for brown and rainbow trout and
affords exciting fly fishing. Elk hunting and game viewing on and around
the ranch is very good. The ranch sits on the southeastern edge of the
spectacular geologic feature known as South Park. South Park was an ancient
Indian hunting ground and is a magnet for a wide variety of wildlife today.
The headwaters of many of Colorado’s premier trout streams, including
Tarryall Creek , originate in south Park. Gold medal fly fishing on the
South Platte River is just minutes away. Additional good fishing can be
found on Antero, Spinney Mountain and Eleven Mile Canyon Reservoirs, all
within easy reach of the ranch. The old west town of Fairplay is a short
drive west on Highway 285 and offers restaurants and shopping. The ski
resort town of Breckenridge is located just over Hoosier Pass on Highway 9,
approximately 22 miles north of Fairplay.
